Why Authenticity Sells and How to Infuse it into your Personal Brand

At a party, no one will remember your name unless you made an EMOTIONAL connection with them. The connection could be good or bad, but they had to have stood out to you somehow.

Why does this matter for your brand? And how do you make a positive emotional connection?

The answer is: AUTHENTICITY

Now let me be clear:  Authenticity is NOT being totally unfiltered, oversharing, or airing your dirty laundry (that’s just messy). It’s also not “being real” for ego’s sake...it’s owning what you stand for, but doing it with intention and purpose. .

Here’s why authenticity matters for your personal brand:

  1. Authenticity = emotional connection
  2. Emotional connection = “know, like and trust”
  3. Purchase decisions = mostly emotional, not logical....otherwise we wouldn’t have hundreds of brands of shampoo. Duh. 🤷🏻‍♀️ .

That’s why the quickest way to blend in is to try and sound like everybody else. Don’t be afraid to have an opinion. You can’t and SHOULDN’T be everyone’s cup of tea.

Authenticity (done the RIGHT way) will ATTRACT those who resonate with you, and REPEL those who don’t.

Over time, “attract & repel” creates raving fans that will sop up your every word and buy everything you sell, not because you’re fierce (because you ARE) but because they TRUST you.
